My first card from Italy!!!

I`ve been to Rome in January 2006 and it is such a beautiful city. I threw a coin into the Trevi fountain, so I’ll hope to visit this city some day again.

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island city-state located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, lying 137 kilometres (85 mi) north of the equator, south of the Malaysian state of Johor and north of Indonesia’s Riau Islands. At 710.2 km2 (274.2 sq mi), Singapore is a microstate and the smallest nation in Southeast Asia. It is substantially larger than Monaco and Vatican City, the only other surviving sovereign city-states.
The English language name Singapore comes from Malay Singapura, “Lion-city”, but it is possible that one element of its name had a more distant original source. Pura comes from Sanskrit puram, “city, fortress”, and is related to Greek polis, “citadel, city”. Singa- comes from Sanskrit siṃha, which means lion. Today the city-state is referred to as the Lion City.

Recently I got another of my favorites – I love those small british houses.

These attractive cottages were once weaver’s homes and can be found in The Cotswolds.
The Cotswolds is a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the “Heart of England”, an area 25 miles (40 km) across and 90 miles (145 km) long. The Cotswolds lie mainly within the ceremonial counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, but extend into parts of Wiltshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. The area has been designated as the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. (source: Wikipedia)

This week I got some really awesome cards – here is the first one from a middle school class from Westford. Signed by 11 pupils – in my classes there were always around 25 kids.
The beautiful card shows a New England Place – the Moffati-Ladd House, late georgian residence in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

From my blogging penpal and book lovers reading group member Lotte:

This is such a beautiful card!
And I also got a sticker with a quote from Marcus Tullius Cicero: “A room without books is like a body without soul.” I am thinking about putting it onto a cardbord so that I will have a handmade bookmark.

The other day I received a card from China showing the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The Huangpu River assures Shanghai’s status as the gateway to China. The river averages 400 meters in width, rising from around Lake Dianshan to the east and conjoining with the Yangzi at Wusong (back of postcard).

The Huangpu River (literally “Yellow Bank River”) is a 97km long river in China flowing through Shanghai. Huangpu River is the largest river in Shanghai, and Suzhou Creek its branch. Shanghai gets most of its drinking water from Huangpu, which thus plays an important part for the metropolis. It divides the city into two regions: Pudong (east) and Puxi (west).
The Bund in Shanghai is located along the river. The Bund is an area of Huangpu District in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The area centres on a section of Zhongshan Road within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong, in the eastern part of Huangpu District. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. The Bund is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. Building heights are restricted in this area. (source: Wikipedia)
